Look for the Sun

With the exception of rainy days, I walk almost everyday.  It has become apart of my daily routine whether I’m home or traveling.  Besides the fresh air and exercise, I enjoy listening to audiobooks to clear my head as I pound the pavement.  I am able to put aside whatever is going on in my life for just a little while to absorb myself in a cozy mystery, novel or drama.  So I guess you could say these walks have become a “necessary” habit.

I took these first two photos from one of my recent walks.  It was such a refreshing, cool, crisp, beautiful morning.  I could tell autumn is just around the corner for this very small farming community.  Even though I have moved far from here, I never tire of visiting my hometown.  I decided I was not going to let my emotions take over and enjoy the lovely scenery before me.

One day, my sister and I stepped away from the morning routine to go out for breakfast before heading to the hospital.  Located in a small rural community almost an hour away, this cafe is a favorite place we always go whenever I’m back in town.  The people are friendly, the food is wonderful and the visit always results in a smile.

The outside of The Cottage Cafe is always “picture” perfect.

The Cottage Cafe is a European style eatery that focuses on locally sourced ingredients.  Whatever is in season will likely be found on the menu.  My sister and I both love sticky buns and this place has the best for miles around.  While they make their own bread, pastries and pies, the buns are our favorite treat.

The interior is so charming!

My favorite caramel rolls!

After this special breakfast, it was back to reality. If I have any advice to give, never stop looking around you. Appreciate what you see and what you have.  Even though life may seem gloomy, look for the sun. I believe there will always be something beautiful to be found amongst the clouds.

I was invited to pick as many apples as I wanted from our neighbor’s tree.

A dazzling corn field just a cross the street from the house.
