TWG Tea Unboxing

TWG Tea is a luxury Singaporean teahouse chain. Although it was established in 2008, the year 1837 which is prominent in its logo represents the year when the island became a trading post for tea, spices and other fine food products.  The first time I tried this tea was when I was on holiday in Vancouver, Canada. One of my closest friends brought it to my attention years later as she loves the aroma and taste of TWG French Earl Grey.  She gave me a few tea bags to try and my daughter enjoyed it so much I decided to place an order to have on hand.

The downside of ordering direct is you must spend a minimum of $50, probably because the product ships directly from Singapore.  So when I was $2 short of the $50 minimum, my friend said she would add her order to mine.

The Reveal

First of all, I was so surprised when my order arrived in only four or five days.  It was shipped through DHL Worldwide from Singapore.  The exterior of the container I received was literally a plain brown box.  There were no distinct markings on it at all to even know it was a TWG product.  In fact, I doublechecked the label to see who had sent it. But then you open it to find this!

My eyes were so dazzled with all the TWG design printed everywhere!

One of the most brilliant things about TWG is they send you an impressive amount of tea samples.  I love the fact it is loose tea, too, although the sachets do contain loose leaf.  This marketing tactic really works because I placed my second order based on a sample I received the very first time I ordered from TWG Tea.

Everything is so lovely!

I sent my daughter all the samples I received from my first order, which included the Navigator’s Tea.  She immediately contacted me to say how much she enjoyed this flavor and to please buy more the next time I placed an order.  I decided to get it for her birthday.  The website allows you to indicate any products you want are a gift.  You can then identify those items in your order because they attach a ribbon and sticker to them.

These are two free samples of loose tea I received.  I plan to send them to my daughter.  The descriptions sound wonderful so I can only imagine she will enjoy them as well.

Because I had purchased a certain amount of product, I was surprised to receive a third item - a complimentary tea to celebrate mothers around the world. I decided to give this to my friend who is an Earl Grey fan and so graciously offered to add her order to mine in the first place.

My personal favorite tea at the moment is still British Brunch from Smith Tea out of Portland, Oregon.  However, I do love the aroma of the French Earl Grey as well as the high quality and sophistication you will find in all of TWG Tea’s products. I can’t wait to place my next order to see what new flavors they will send!
