Hail to the Queen!

When my sister and I traveled to England, I was determined to be the tourist for a few days.  Usually, my husband prefers to explore new places off the beaten path, away from all the popular tourist sights.  Not this time.  The Tower of England, check.  Hampton Court, check.  Fortum & Mason, check.  St. Paul’s Cathedral, check.  And of course, we had to visit Buckingham Palace.  We endured a very long line, standing and waiting for what felt like forever in the summer heat, but it was worth it!

Waiting in the hot sun for the gates to open.

The gardens were quite beautiful and it was a welcome break in the shade of a tree.

Everyone who comes to Buckingham Palace eventually ends up on this side of the palace to take photos and to be amazed at the scenery.

We didn’t time our visit to witness the changing of the guard, but it was quite exciting to see everything in person!

During Christmas time, I display the wonderful souvenir my sister purchased at the palace gift shop to remind me of our trip.

No matter what your stance is regarding the monarchy, there is no denying what an incredible person Queen Elizabeth II is to the world.  Watching the Platinum Jubilee online with thousands of supporters in the streets and participating in this historical event is evidence of that belief.  Cheers and Hail to the Queen!
